The Numbers Guy: Gannon Friends Aid in Oil Spill Cleanup

So it’s been awhile since you all have heard from me, and for the most part not much has changed.  I’m still working at Crag Burn Golf Club – putting in more than 40 hours a week – but  I still go to the gym every day!  Other than that, I’ve just been hanging out with friends and trying to come out of this summer with a little bank.

One of my best friends just came home from his Coast Guard training and it was back to being just like old times.  Then, two weeks ago, he got a letter telling him to report to base to be shipped off to Louisiana for the rest of the summer.  So now, my best friend is down there helping the effort to clean up the oil spill.

People Person: Staying Cool in Texas (or Erie) Heat

Hello Edge readers! Hope you are having a fun summer!

I’m on vacation in Texas, and from what I’ve heard through the grapevine, Erie weather is hotter than Texas weather. I’ve never heard of that happening! So, instead of listing activities to do in the heat, here are some suggestions for some fun away from those sun rays. I’ll try my best to help – even from 1,000 miles away!

Ad-Lib: Picking a Movie is Like Picking a College.. Sort Of

ad-libHey everyone!  Hopefully you’re all having one amazing summer vacation!  I know I’m really enjoying it! You really can’t beat sleeping in, hanging out at the beach and seeing your friends without having to ask them, “what was the homework from last night?” or “That test is today!?!”

This summer I realized that I hadn’t watched a movie – or any reality television – in a really long time.  So this summer I’ve made a resolution: I’m going to watch movies that I should have seen, but never got the chance to. And in doing so, I had a revelation. We’ll get to that in a minute.

Flip (or Flop) into Gannon this Summer!

flipflopSearching for a college can feel like a burden when you’d rather be lying on the beach or hanging out with friends. But, searching for a school doesn’t have to be a drag.

Join us on August 6 for a visit, and you’ll see more than just a school by the bayfront. Gannon’s SummerVisitDay will give you the chance to get a first-hand look at everything Gannon has to offer while experiencing a beautiful summer weekend in Erie!

The day will begin with registration at 9:30 a.m. followed by a warm summer welcome at 10 a.m. Throughout the day, you’re invited to tour our newly renovated academic buildings where you can explore state-of-the-art laboratories and classrooms; meet with faculty, staff and current students from each department; and take in the University while spending the day on the bayfront.

While you’re in town, experience all that Gannon and Erie have to offer. See a show, explore our history, learn about our environment, and even spend some time on the beach. Don’t miss SummerVisitDay at Gannon University!
