The Schuster Theatre in Scottino Hall is the location of GU’s theatrical performances (Get the scoop on the upcoming 2011-2012 season). That’s also where you can find the offices of professors in the theatre, communication and fine arts department.

Prep U for GU: Getting Involved
During your first few weeks on campus, you’ll find that there is so much more to do at Gannon than sitting in your dorm room or watching TV. There are many clubs and organizations you can join on campus that can cure any case of boredom.
When you first get to campus and get settled in, posters and fliers for all sorts of clubs will appear everywhere. They will usually give the time, date and location for the first meeting and a contact for any questions. Don’t be afraid to ask a question about an organization if you have one.

Click Thru GU: New Residence Hall
The yet-to-be-named new residence hall will open for the first time in August 2011. This suite-style living will house both freshmen and upperclassmen.
Construction crews are putting the finishing touches on the building, which will definitely be ready in time for move-in day.
Are you an incoming freshman that is getting excited to live in a brand new building? Check out our other posts on the New Res Hall.

Trip to a Forbidden Planet and Theatre Camps
Keeping myself busy this summer is not really hard to do. Most of my time is being spent in rehearsals for the two Shakespeare Summer Nights shows, “Richard III” and “Return to the Forbidden Planet.” These shows will be performed the third and fourth weekend of July, so if you’re interested in seeing a free Shakespeare show – this is a great experience.
Two different theatre camps take place here at Gannon University at the same time as the shows. They’re really cool, and perfect for high school students — no matter your experience level.

Summer Fundays Countdown: #10
With only 10 weeks left before school starts, Edge is conducting a countdown. Every week, we’ll suggest a place to spend a day in Erie to make the most of your summer free time, starting with suggestion #10 this week…
Most of the time when someone thinks about a zoo, they most likely think about zoos in larger cities, such as Pittsburgh or Cleveland. Many would be surprised that Erie has a zoo that is home to over 400 animals. These animals range from penguins to rhinoceroses. They also have an indoor exhibit and a train ride that travels the perimeter of the zoo.

Click Thru GU: Old Main
This is a place that most students don’t visit on a regular basis (though work studies in Old Main would beg to differ). Though you may not frequent this historic building, it’s still good to know that this is where the president, provost, vice president of finance and the offices of University Advancement can be found.

Freshman Bio Class Lands Me a Job
After a month of looking for a job, I am finally employed.
I applied virtually everywhere. If a place had a “We’re hiring” sign, you can bet I walked in and got an application. And if a place didn’t, I probably walked in and asked for one anyway.
