Gannon A to Z: D is for Doc Wehrle
From 1933 to 1956, Msgr. Joseph J. “Doc” Wehrle served as Gannon’s first president. He played an integral role in the university’s advancement, putting in hard work and overcoming immense challenges to make Gannon the place it is today.
During his time as president, the school acquired the Strong Mansion, now known as Old Main. It also received its own charter – separate from the one it originally shared with Villa Maria – as a four-year men’s institution and changed its name from Cathedral College to Gannon College.
Wehrle Hall, the freshman residence located on West Sixth Street, is named in honor of Doc Wehrle, whose devotion to Gannon and love for the students is fondly remembered.

High School Happenings: Collegiate Academy hits the runway for prom
Brooke Latimer, a High School Happenings contributor, tells us about Collegiate Academy’s annual Prom Fashion Show:
Collegiate Academy’s annual Prom Fashion Show will take place during fourth period classes on April 20. It is open to junior and senior students, just like prom itself, and all the models are senior couples. The show is a chance for both guys and girls to show off their prom getup. Many choose to recycle last year’s evening attire, while others use the show as a preview of what they are wearing for the big night, which is May 18.

Who you gonna call? KnightCallers!
We’re calling on Emilie Mitchell, senior nursing major, this week. Have you received a phone call from a Gannon student asking about your college search? Chances are it was Emilie or one of her fellow KnightCallers. They contact prospective and accepted students to answer all their questions about Gannon.
What do you enjoy about your job as a KnightCaller?
I like talking to prospective students. My favorite part is hearing their excitement about Gannon and the admissions process they’re going through.
