The Gannon women’s basketball team is not only headed back to the NCAA Division II Tournament for the fifth time during the last seven seasons, but the Lady Knights will be hosting their second NCAA regional in the last four years. The NCAA released the 64-team national tournament bracket Sunday night via a live Internet broadcast.

Gannon (28-4) enters the tournament as the Atlantic region’s No. 1 seed and will host the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional scheduled for Friday, March 15 through Monday, March 18. The Lady Knights had won seven consecutive games before finishing as the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) runner-up with a 74-57 loss at Bloomsburg Saturday night in the conference championship game.

The NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional kicks off Friday, March 15 with two sessions. The first session includes No. 3 Shaw (25-4) vs. No. 6 Glenville State (26-3) at 12 noon and No. 2 Edinboro (22-6) vs. No. 7 California (Pa.) (20-8) at 2:30 p.m. The arena will then be cleared and reset for the second session which includes No. 1 Gannon vs. No. 8 Fairmont State (23-9) at 6 p.m. No. 4 Indiana (Pa.) (22-8) faces No. 5 Bloomsburg (24-5) in the final game at 8:30 p.m.

Saturday’s semifinal match-ups are scheduled for 5 and 7:30 p.m. Monday’s title game is slated for 7 p.m.

Gannon was tabbed No. 1 in every NCAA Division II Atlantic regional ranking released this season. The Lady Knights, ranked No. 7 in the USA Today Sports Division II Coaches’ Poll, captured the PSAC Western Division regular-season championship with a 20-2 conference mark.All Gannon post-season games can be heard live on 90.5 WERG and via the Internet at http://www.wergfm.com.
