The Gannon women’s water polo team remained 10th for the fifth consecutive week in the latest Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Top 10 Poll released this week.

Two-time defending CWPA champion Princeton is the top-ranked team for the sixth consecutive poll with 98 points. Indiana University (97), Hartwick College (90), the University of Michigan (81) and Harvard University (81) completed the top five.

Brown University (78), Bucknell University (69), George Washington University (64), Mercyhurst University (60) and Gannon University (57) rounded out the top 10.

Gannon kicked off the 2014 campaign February 8 with a split, falling to St. Francis (N.Y.) (13-10) in the opener before rebounding with a victory against Notre Dame (Ohio) (21-10). Katelyn Jacobs (Brookfield, Ill./Lyons Township) led the offensive unit with seven goals in two matches. Emily Rodriguez (Erie, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) averaged 9.5 saves per match.

Head coach Don Sherman‘s club returns to action February 28-March 2 at the Virginia Military Institute Invitational in Lexington, Virginia. The Lady Knights will play five matches in three days.
