The Erie Community Child Abuse Task Force (CATF) is sponsoring a 5k running race and 2K run/walk on April 13 at Presque Isle State Park.

Called “Be A Hero,” the race is held in association with Crime Victim Center of Erie County and Safe Harbor Behavioral Health, and will benefit CATF.

Participants are encouraged to dress either as their favorite superhero or to wear their favorite superhero t- shirt. Prizes will be given to the top three finishers in both male and female divisions for the 5K run and for the 2K run/walk in each age category.

Registration for adults is $20, $25 with a t-shirt. Student registration is $15, $20 with a t-shirt. Participants must register by April 1 to receive a t-shirt. Registration is available online at bigwhitetrailer.com/register The race begins at 8 a.m. at Beach 1. The event will be staffed in part by volunteers from the Gannon University chapter of the Student Pennsylvania State Education Association (SPSEA).

The Erie County Child Abuse Task Force is led by Gannon University and by Carolynn Masters, Ph.D., RN,  Gannon University’s provost and vice president for academic affairs. The task force is comprised of leaders from numerous local agencies and organizations who have joined together to better respond to the problem of child abuse.
