As their college careers come to an end, many seniors are reflecting on memories and imparting wisdom to underclassmen. But we wanted to see what the newest members of the Gannon community had to say about their first year. Here’s some memories and advice from the freshman class:

What is your favorite memory of freshman year?

Tom Barton, theater and communications major said, “My favorite memory for the year was the Schusties [the Schuster Theatre awards, at which Tom won Male Rookie of the Year].”

Emily Cornelius, occupational therapy major, said, “The friends I’ve made, they are some of the most amazing people I have ever met and I’m so glad college threw us together.”

Leah Johnson, social work major said, “Getting to be an extra in a real movie.”

What do you hope to accomplish in your next three years at Gannon?

Tom: “I hope to become more familiar with theater as a whole.”

Emily: “Continue to have success swimming and academically.”

Leah: “Make as much of an impact in the greater world as I can.”

What advice do you have for incoming freshman?

Tom: “I would say, don’t be afraid; even if something seems intimidating or you don’t think you’ll make it, give it a try anyway. You never know what will happen.”

Emily: “Enjoy it! Don’t get caught up in the little things because it goes so quickly, and don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and meet new people.”

Leah: “Get involved early!”
