Saturday, August 23

8 a.m. – 1 p.m. | First-year Students Move In | Finegan, West, North, Wehrle Halls
First-year residential students will move into the halls. Welcome to your new home!

Noon – 2:30 p.m. | Welcome Cookout | AJ’s Way, Friendship Green
Kick off the school year with a light lunch served by the Gannon community. Sponsored by the Division of Student Development & Engagement

3 – 4 p.m. | New Student Convocation | Hammermill Center
Please wear your new Gannon Possibilities t-shirt for the class photo immediately after the ceremony! Faculty, staff and administrators will officially welcome you into the Gannon
community during this opening academic ceremony. Students will meet in the Yehl Alumni Room and process in as a group.

4:15 – 4:45 p.m. | First-year Class Photo | Gannon Arch
Join in this special tradition of processing out of Convocation together through the Gannon Arch and participate in your 2014 first-year class photo!

5 – 7 p.m. | Dinner | Beyer Hall Cafeteria

7 – 8 p.m. | Residence Hall Floor Meetings
Required for all residential students.
Meet your residence hall family including your Resident Assistant (RA), Resident Director (RD), and Resident Campus Minister (RCM). Start building community in your hall by getting to know your new neighbors and reviewing community standards. Look for signs in the residence halls or ask your RA for the location of your meeting.

Members of the Kappa Beta cast of the Alpha Psi Omega honorary theater fraternity will showcase how to positively solve problems, “as well as how to” avoid negative situations through improv comedy.

1:30 – 4:30 p.m. | Fun in the Sun…Beach Trip | Presque Isle Water Works Area
Rain location: Recreation and Wellness Center
Meet under the Arch on 7th Street to hop aboard a school bus that will take you to and from Presque Isle, one of the area’s premier attractions. Come and experience the beach where you can play games and enjoy fun in the sun (and shade, too!) with fellow first-year students and meet with members of Gannon’s fraternities and sororities. You can also rent a bicycle, roller blades, paddle boats or a surrey. Sunscreen will be provided, but be sure to bring your water bottles!

Student Conduct: Is it worth the risk? Learn how your current decisions will affect your future career path. Meet the Student Conduct Officer, Sue Majocka, and find out what you need to know about Gannon University’s community standards.
