What am I doing today? Nothing much… Just getting on a plane and flying to Scotland.

Yup. Scotland.

Today, I leave for the International Collegiate Theatre Festival, part of the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland. I’m really excited about the trip — read on and you’ll see why!

There are twelve students, one alumnus, and three faculty members going on the trip to participate and soak up the culture at the Fringe Festival. This theatre festival takes place every year in August and features thousands of performances from artists around the world. It’s the first year that Gannon is participating, and it’s going to be awesome.

For the past few weeks, we’ve been working on “Cotton Patch Gospel,” the musical we’re performing in Scotland. We have a small set to take with us that I helped build through my work study job at the theatre. If I may say so myself; it looks awesome. If this trip goes well, the Rev. Shawn Clerkin, our director, will be taking students from Gannon’s theatre department back to Scotland every three or four years.  If you’re looking to come to Gannon, you may have a chance to go to the Fringe, too!

I cannot even begin to imagine all that I will experience on this twelve-day adventure abroad. There will be shows from all over the world, acting classes and other theatre workshops, dance companies to see, and student performers and professionals to meet and work with, side by side.

I will take lots of pictures and share some when I get back. Till then, have a good couple of weeks. I’ve got a plane to catch!
