Andrew Hartle, a senior nursing major, gives us an inside look on what it’s like to work as part of the Gannon groundskeeping crew.

What kinds of duties were you responsible for?
We tended all of the outside property. That included mowing lawns, raking leaves, shoveling sidewalks and other random jobs around the campus – things like general maintenance and trash cleanup.

What was your favorite part about working grounds crew?
My favorite part was getting to spend summer outside in Erie. I also enjoyed the exercise involved with some of the more intensive jobs.

Why would you recommend this work-study job to future students?
I would recommend this job to future students because it gives you the opportunity to network with people you may not interact with on a daily basis.

What was the biggest benefit?
The fact that I could keep the job over the summer and increase my hours was probably the biggest perk. It allowed me to stay in Erie and still make money all summer long.
