Our first full day in Guatemala!
We started the morning with amazing coffee/tea and breakfast (eggs, fresh fruit, beans and bread) from the mission. Before breakfast the mission likes to “circle us” and each group introduced themselves. There are three or four other groups here from all over the U.S., and it was neat to meet other communities.
The biggest adventure of the day was exploring San Juan La Laguna and San Antonio via boat tour with warm weather and lots of sun (70’s-80’s). Our boat driver, Felipe, was very welcoming and loved to give hugs. Throughout the tour, each town was different, population-wise, but sold very similar touristy items.
We ended up eating at a restaurant in San Antonio and the food here continues to taste incredible. Then, the group had some much-needed chill time.
At the end of the day, it was nice to reflect on both the chaotic day we had traveling yesterday and the exciting boat day today.
We are grateful for how welcoming everyone has been towards us and, within our Gannon group, it has been cool to see how “cliques” have gotten to be very fluid as everyone has gotten to know each other more.
