Is April really only two weeks away?

Although I am looking forward to the warmer weather, it is a bit terrifying to be so close to the end of the academic year. I am currently at the end of my junior year with my senior year staring me down. This wouldn’t be too intimidating if I wasn’t already looking into graduate schools for after I finish my undergraduate nursing degree.

The ambition to begin searching for a graduate school struck me a few weeks ago when I went on a road trip to Philadelphia. I was standing in the middle of University City surrounded by colleges such as Drexel and the University of Pennsylvania when I realized I will in fact be a senior in approximately three months. I’ll admit until that point I had been pushing that thought to the deepest, darkest point in the back of my head because I really don’t want to leave Gannon.

Suddenly I am right back in the same spot I was four years ago, the same spot as those of you who are high school juniors. I’m searching through college websites to look into what majors are offered, what the school’s facilities are like, where it’s located and of course, tuition rates. My mailbox is again being flooded with brochures, pamphlets and the occasional application for schools around the country. This summer will most likely be filled with road trips taking campus tours, just as it was four summers ago.

In other news, Gannon has started the fall semester scheduling process. The campus is buzzing with people’s desired schedules and the occasional moaning about 8 a.m. classes. Personally, I can’t complain at all because I will have Mondays and Fridays off. Yes, I mean completely off with not a single class to attend. Actually I take that back…I will have one class on each of those days. It’s a class I created called NAP 101, where I learn how to catch up on some long lost sleep.

Well, it’s time to get back to all of those brochures, pamphlets and websites.

Catch ya on the flip side!
