I cannot believe it’s already July. Soon enough, my family and I will be on a week-long vacation to the Outer Banks in NC, and I’ll be packing everything that I need so I’m ready to move back to Gannon’s campus. However, there’s still a lot going on before either of these events, so I’m trying to stay as busy as possible.

I work almost every day in the summer, but my time off and my weekends are always full of different activities with both my family and my friends. I love to catch up with my oldest and closest friends. We do all sorts of fun things, but I enjoy our long (and loud) conversations over food at one of the many local restaurants in Pittsburgh. We go to parks and go swimming, as we’re all trying to save money this summer. We also take some miniature road trips, to places like Ohiopyle State Park and other (almost) local attractions.

Believe it or not, Pittsburgh is movie production central this summer. Pennsylvania doesn’t tax production companies to use the cityscapes and buildings in their films, so many different movies are currently filming in the downtown and suburban areas of the city. I was lucky enough to be an extra in one film due to come out next spring. I also attended an open call for extras to be in a movie that will be released next summer. I should be hearing about this second movie within the next week or two. I’d love to say which movies, but when you are an extra in a movie you have to sign a confidentiality agreement. You’ll just have to look for me on screen next year.

I’m really excited to go on vacation with my family this year. This is our first big trip in a few years so it should be a lot of fun. We’ll be in the Outer Banks for a week. I love the beach and the ocean, so this is a dream vacation. I can’t wait to swim and lay on the beach in the sun with a good book.

I hope you’re having a great summer too!

Talk to you soon,

Sarah
