Today was truly special. We started our day at a daycare where children ranging from 3 months to 4 years old filled the room with laughter and curiosity. We paired up with each little one—playing with them, watching them explore and even helping during snack time. Their genuine smiles and carefree nature reminded us to slow down and appreciate the simple things in life.
Later, we visited a girls’ after school program for children ages 5 and up. Here, the atmosphere was equally warm and inviting. The teachers encourage the girls to learn not only English and sign language but also Mayan, sparking their interest in their own rich cultural heritage. We shared an amazing lunch together—enjoying chicken noodle soup packed with vegetables, bananas and pumpkin. The meal was both nourishing and heartwarming.
We wrapped up the day at Progreso Beach, enjoying appetizers, swimming in the gulf and relaxing on the sand. After a stroll down the boardwalk and some group ice cream, we headed home, reflecting on the past week with heartfelt conversations before resting up for our return to Erie.
