Before traveling, we stopped by Café Macchiato for a quick breakfast and coffee, enjoying a delicious meal. Afterward, we returned to Casa Blanca for a final clean-up, ensuring we left the space just as we found it as a sign of respect to our hosts. Once everything was tidied up, we double-checked our belongings, signed cards for our hosts, and finished some leftovers before heading to the airport. There, we said our final goodbyes to Mérida and the incredible people who made our journey so meaningful.
We had a smooth check-in and immigration at the small, but beautiful, Merida airport. A scenic flight over the Gulf brought us to Miami. During the flight, Nora shared our mission with a retired U.S. couple living in Merida. After a tough border control, TSA and baggage transfer, we made it to our next gate and talked with some friendly Utahns about our trip.
After a quick dinner and last-minute shopping, we boarded our final flight to Cleveland. The flight was simple and smooth, and we caught our school bus to Erie at midnight, arriving three hours later with the time change. Everything went surprisingly well, especially with all the recent travel issues.
Love,
Lachewana & Kaif
