Guatemala 2026 – Day 6

Hello Knights!

Today some of our group started there day at the 7 a.m. mass. It was an incredibly unique experience and seeing the differences between here and home was unforgettable.

After breakfast, our first activity was the Coffee Presentation at Cafe Juan Ana. They walked us through three methods of making it including a drip method similar to Chem ex and the Japanese Siphon! Each method resulted in a unique flavor that we sampled and at the end we each got a frozen blended mocha! Overall, that was the groups and our favorite.

We then had a delicious lunch called pepian (pictured below). This included delicious chicken, a pepper flavored rice and tamales.

Before our afternoon activity we washed everyone’s dishes for dish duty. Then we went to a construction site and moved over 400 cinder blocks. Our arms were very tired after moving them down a hill through the woods and stacking them into a pile.

Then 10 of us packed into a van and went for a sunset drive but the weather caused a lot of fog. It felt like being in a cloud! The lake almost looked like an optical illusion because of how the light reflected off it.

We regrouped for dinner and had amazing sandwiches and soup. Dessert was plantain cake that tasted very similar to banana bread. Muy bien!

Now it is time for reflection.

Adios for now,

Abby Moskala and Savannah Kutterna
