Mérida 2026- Day 5

Mérida 2026- Day 5

Hi! My name is Mia Stone. I am a junior, Mortuary Science major and this is my second ABST. Today our group went to the Santa Bárbara Cenotes. Cenotes are natural sinkholes that are filled with fresh water. On the van ride over to the cenotes we learned some background information on what cenotes are and how they are formed.

When we arrived at our destination we rode bicycles to the different cenotes in the area. Each cenotes has its own name and its own natural beauty. Some of the cenotes are completely underground while over have a hole at the top to see the sky. The water was a little cold which was nice for how hot it was outside. Once done with the cenotes, we had lunch at the restaurant near by. The food was delicious, but we were all exhausted from the bike riding, swimming, and the heat.

Today was such and amazing experience. The Cenotes were so cool to see in person and a great way to relax.
