Guatemala – Day 5

Guatemala – Day 5

We started our day eating at La Biblioteca! Our breakfast duty is to set up the food, do the dishes and wash the tables afterwards.

We then separated into two groups to serve by laying cement with families who are building homes. Construction also included digging and spreading dirt; this is where we found 30 iguana eggs. Once we completed our jobs at the work sites, we headed back to eat lunch.

We were served a traditional Mayan dish called “kak’ik.” After lunch we went to a presentation at the Imoxabout reforestation. Here, we had an incredible view of San Lucas Toliman as walked around learning about the history of the program, which trees thrive in the environment, and why they do. Specifically, the Cyprus trees which is a type of evergreen.

After dinner, we ended our night with chocolate covered fruit from a local shop called “Cocos De La Abuela.” It was such a beautiful day in San Lucas Toliman!
