On day three of our ABST with L’Arche Ontario we started our day with breakfast and a short group reflection at the Sherman House before driving to Toronto to visit the Sol Express Day Program. We got to meet and play games with some of the members of the program, which focuses on performing arts and creativity. We talked about what we love, what we dream about, and did an activity to learn more about ourselves. After our morning at the Sol Express Program we said our goodbyes to our new friends then grabbed a quick lunch at Quesada and then we walked to Nathan Philips Square to take pictures in front of the Toronto sign. In the square, we were able to watch people ice skate in their outdoor rink and walk around City Hall!
We then took the metro up to Casa Loma and took in the sights of the castle built in 1914 by Sir Henry Mill Pellatt. There were many beautiful rooms in the castle and it was fun to get a deeper look into the history of Toronto.
After we explored all of the rooms and towers in Casa Loma, we finished our wonderful trip to Toronto with a visit to the CN Tower, where we took pictures of the Toronto skyline and walked on the glass floor! We had a lovely dinner at C’est What? A restaurant recommended by friends located in downtown Toronto. We all got to try a favorite Canadian dish, poutine, which was so delicious. Finally, we drove back to the Sherman House and reflected on the day as a group.
