Clark is a visiting professor, so he’s only here for a short time, but he’s already leaving an impact on students. A member of the English department, Clark teaches lecture courses such as Prose Literature.

He focuses on quality over a “cookie-cutter” English curriculum. He is the kind of professor that is open to discussion and new interpretation of the material that he teaches. Although I’ve only been his student for a few short weeks, but I know that if I have a new story idea, it would not be shot down in his classroom.

Clark provides seemingly endless background knowledge on each reading, helping his students understand the story’s author, setting and historical context. Learning is not simply reading and regurgitating the same responses over and over again. It’s taking a look at what you’re reading and formulating your own thoughts on the material.

Entering a department that already has so much talent seems like it may be a challenge for most, but it appears that Clark will fit in just fine. In my experience, the English department is filled with some of the most focused and understanding professors at Gannon. Do yourself a favor as a student and stop by the third floor of the Palumbo to say hello!
