I’ve had the same laptop for the past four years.  Since I got it, I have taken really good care of it by installing updates, running virus scans, and keeping it safe when not in use.  While the laptop still runs pretty well and has never let me down in the past, I still want more from it.  I realized that what my laptop needed was a new look through stickers and decals.

All around campus I have been seeing a growing trend of people decorating their laptops with stickers from their favorite brand, TV show, movie, or anything else that would give their laptop a cooler look.

I saw this trend and thought that was just what my computer needed, an updated look.  In this article I will give you some tips on how to find these decals for your computer without spending a lot of money.

The first place I went to on my quest for decals was the mall.  In the mall there are many stores that sell stickers of TV shows, skateboard brands and artwork.  When looking at the different stores there were many cool stickers, however there was one problem, the price.

Many of these decals ranged from $4 to $6 with some even priced in the $8 to $10 range. I wasn’t going to pay this much for something that’s just going to get overlapped by another sticker on the sticker collage that would soon be displayed on my computer.

I did find out, however, that you can get free stickers at these stores.  The only issue is the stickers are pretty much advertisements for the store. If you don’t have an issue with that, these stickers make great gap fillers for your laptop flair.

After being disappointed with the price at the mall I decided to check out one of the local pop-up shops around town.  Pop-up shops are a great place to buy decently priced art from different vendors in one place.  Another advantage of these pop-up shops is that through buying locally made art you are supporting local artists.

At the pop-up shop there are many artists that sell their paintings in the form of stickers.  When I heard about this, I thought these stickers would be even more overpriced than the ones at the mall. When I showed up to the shop, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that many of these artists only charge $2 for their stickers.  This was great because I didn’t have to spend a lot on the stickers and I was supporting a local artist in the process.

In addition to helping out local artists when buying your stickers, you can also help out other artists when buying stickers from artists through Redbubble.  Here I was able to find many stickers from my favorite TV shows, bands, Movies, etc.

What was cool about this site was that I was buying from artists who made these stickers themselves, and at a decent price.  Many of the stickers cost from $2 to $5 depending on the size.  In addition to the many cool designs, the website does a good job of having 25 percent off and 50 percent off deals for their stickers.

However, if you do not feel like paying for stickers there is another way to get stickers without spending money.  Many companies will give you free stickers if you mail them a self-addressed envelope containing another envelope (addressed to your home) inside to their company.  Just be sure to put “Attn: stickers” in the second line of the mailing address. This will tell the company that you want stickers. That way your letter doesn’t get thrown in the trash.  If you don’t know where to send the envelope to, just call customer service for the company.

So, in the end, you don’t need to spend a lot to give your laptop, water bottle, or skateboard a new look. It’s pretty easy to find decently priced (and sometimes free) stickers to trick out your stuff. Now my laptop looks completely different and unique to my personality.
