With the semester winding down, there are lots of things gearing up here on campus. Take a look at some of those events in this months @GU.
A modern adaptation of the Greek play Lysistrata will be performed at Gannon University’s Schuster Theatre December 1-10. The play centers on a conspiracy by the Greek women to withhold particular pleasures from their husbands until they stop going to war. You can see the show Dec. 1-3 and 8-10 at 8 p.m. and Dec. 4 at 2 p.m. Admission is $5 or free with a valid Gannon ID.
If you’re in the mood for music, Gannon’s Concert Band will present their Christmas Concert on Wednesday, December 7 at 7:30 p.m. in Mary, Seat of Wisdom Chapel. Plan to attend this long standing tradition! If visions of Christmas songs still dance in your head, then come see Gannon’s mixed chorus perform a selection of songs, holiday themed and otherwise, December 11 at 4:00 p.m. in the Schuster Theatre. Admission is free to both events.
Gannon will host its annual MidKnight Pancake Breakfast Sunday, December 11, the evening before finals week begins. It’s a favorite tradition of Gannon students, who gather in the cafeteria to be served eggs, sausage and pancakes by Gannon faculty and staff, including the President! It’s a great opportunity to take a break from studying and to socialize with other students.
Christmas has been called, “the most wonderful time of the year,” and Gannon certainly seems to agree! In the weeks leading up to Christmas break you’ll find all of campus decked out in wreaths, trees and lights. Editor-in-chief Tyler Babcock’s favorite building on campus during the holiday season is Old Main, so make sure to stop in and look at the decorations. Also be sure to check out AJ’s Way lined with trees of lights, which looks spectacular at night!
Take a look at a 1,000 Words post from last year highlighting Old Main’s festive appearance.
