Here at Edge, we’re totally psyched to welcome our newest member of the blogosphere, Sarah Sgro. Sarah is a freshman French/international studies: business major, and she’ll be joining us to give you the inside scoop on the business program here at GU.

Hi! I’m Sarah Sgro, and I’m a freshman French/international studies:  business major here at Gannon. I’m the oldest of three girls and I’m originally from Pittsburgh, PA. I attended a small Catholic high school and spent a lot of my time there involved in the band, literary magazine and school musicals. I like to sing and read, and as long as there’s enough caffeine involved, I’m a generally happy person.

When it was time for me to make my college decision, I only applied to a total of four schools. I know, shocking, especially when your best friends are droning about filling out their 15th application. But I knew what I was looking for in a college and didn’t feel like wasting time applying to schools I would never attend.

I decided to come to Gannon for a lot of reasons. I really like the small campus size (I have absolutely no sense of direction), and Gannon was one of the only schools to offer the exact major that I wanted.  I’ve taken French classes since I was 12 years old and I’ve really come to appreciate the culture and the language itself, so I really wanted to continue. I think that knowing a second language is really important for everyone, and I’d love to work overseas someday. My dream job would be something along the lines of a tour or theatre manager, taking care of travel and every aspect of a production. Eventually, I want to travel everywhere and see everything I can.

I’ve really come to love it here over the past semester, and I’m glad that Gannon was my final decision (despite all the snow).  This past semester, I made a lot of friends, had a lot of fun and have gotten one step closer to each of my goals. I’m excited to see what the rest of my time here at Gannon has in store for me, and I’ll be sure to keep you updated with everything that goes on around here.  I hope everything’s going well for you, wherever you are!

Talk to you soon!

Sarah
