We started the morning by getting to Pio Decimo at 9:00. Some of the crew made their last trip to Dutch Bros to fuel up for the day with smoothies and coffee. We did many small tasks today, like cleaning windows, painting bookshelves, pulling weeds, touching up the paint on the mural, and more. Today was a lot of work, but we all agreed it was a great way to end our week of service, and it was a favorite day for many!

We then made lunch with the leftover groceries we had from the week. Using our remaining lunch meat, we made some extra sandwiches and handed them out to the homeless on the way to our next destination. They were so appreciative and grateful for this gesture.

We then went to the University of Arizona, where we walked around some shops and enjoyed the lovely sunshine on our last day. We then headed out to Sabino Canyon, where we went on a one-hour tram ride and saw amazing views and the beauty of Mt. Lemmon. Finally, we hiked a mile back towards the end of the ride, and we got to enjoy the outdoors and take lots of pictures.

We headed to dinner at El Charro and got ice cream at Blue Ice Gelato while we waited for our table reservation. We told our waiter that it was Dr. Iwaneko’s birthday, so they brought him a flan with a candle at the end, and we all sang happy birthday. He was not expecting this at all. We then went home, had our final reflection, and shared qualities of one another we admire. We then packed up and got some rest before our 3 am trip to the airport. We successfully made it from Tuscon to Chicago to Buffalo. We had a fantastic trip overall!

That’s a wrap! See you back in Erie.
