Hello Knights! Welcome back to campus!

During our first few weeks of classes, you have probably noticed that the campus is different. The temperature checks, changes in food, having to wear masks, and the new rules. But these changes are what we need as a community to make sure everyone stays safe.

I’m sure you have heard the saying “Without change, there would be no butterflies”.  Personally, I think this saying goes well with our current situation. Without the changes on campus, we can’t come back better than ever. Butterflies come from caterpillars. Caterpillars go into their chrysalis and then after a few weeks turn into a beautiful butterfly. Again, we wouldn’t have butterflies without change.

Let’s now talk about the new rules around campus and how this change will help GU in the future. All of the protective measures that Gannon is taking will allow us to be better than ever before. The Cafeteria will go back to normal and we will soon have our beloved Mexican week back in Knight’s Cove (: . We won’t have to wear masks in class or in the recreation center. These changes will help get us back to where we want to be.

This year, athletics has taken a hit. Spring seasons were cancelled, fall and some winter sports have been postponed until the new year. While this is very disappointing to many athletes (myself included), this will give all sports teams a chance to take a breather and focus on technique in practice. After all, practice does make perfect! This new change will allow our sports teams to compete stronger and better than ever before.

Don’t forget to #MaskUp Knights!
