Womens Basketball

The following is a message to the Gannon community from President Antoine Garibaldi, Ph.D.:

I am pleased to announce that the Gannon University Lady Knights Basketball team is now ranked No. 1 in the country according to the latest USA Today ESPN Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll, which was released this afternoon. This is the highest national basketball ranking in University history!

Congratulations to Coach Cleve Wright, his Assistant Coaches and his entire team on their fantastic and undefeated season.  We hope that when the Lady Knights face Mercyhurst tomorrow evening they will continue their unbeaten streak, which dates back to January 24, 2009 for regular season games. Please come out and cheer for the Lady Knights tomorrow in the Hammermill Center.  They will also be counting on your support during the PSAC and NCAA Division II Regional tournaments. The PSAC Quarterfinals will be held at Gannon next Tuesday, March 2.  If we win, Gannon will host the PSAC Final Four on March 5 and 6.  The Portal and the Gannon Athletics Web site (www.gannonsports.com) will have the most up-to-date information on the times of those games, as well as the NCAA Division II Tournament that begins on March 12.

Congratulations again to Coach Wright, Assistant Coaches Kate Glusko, Jennifer Lodge and Anneke Chewning, and especially the Lady Knights as they begin the conference and regional playoffs and, hopefully, the national tournaments.

Go Knights.

Antoine M. Garibaldi, Ph.D.
President
