We began our day by heading to the Pio Decimo Center and got there around 8:30.  Once we got there, we were introduced to the services that Pio Decimo offers for young children in the community. Pio Decimo cares for and begins to educate pre-kindergarten students. They also have an after-school program for children ages 5-12.  After we started to finish up some painting from yesterday, we got to spend the morning with children ages 3-5!  The energy the children had was unmatched and it was amazing be able to play with them!  Since today was Dr. Suess’s birthday, we did Seuss-themed crafts with them, and Harley read them the book by Seuss called “All the Places You’ll Go”!  The children were so happy to hang out with us and we were even happier to be able to make their day and spend time with them!  I absolutely loved getting to know the little ones, they are full of positivity and energy, and I love it!

In the afternoon we attended Ash Wednesday Mass at St. Augustine Cathedral in Tucson.  The architecture was beautiful and seeing everyone in the community come together was really special!  After mass, we finished the final touches on the painting and windows and headed to see the after-school children!  We helped the children with homework, sat with them while they painted or colored, and really got to know them!  We played games outside with them and hung out with the children until it was time for them to leave for the night. The kids and staff were so appreciative of our help, and we were so grateful to be able to be there! We finished off the night with In-N-Out burgers and fries and headed home for reflection. BTW, burgers were worth the hype! 🍔
