Halloween may still be a few days away, but that won’t stop the Halloween spirit from haunting the Knight Club Friday.

In light of the construction at the Carneval Athletic Pavilion (CAP), KnightLife, Gannon’s alternative late-night programming organization, has revamped their popular OcSoberfest event. The new event will be called Fright Knight and will take place in the Knight Club instead of the CAP.

Emma Mancini, senior pre-med biology major and president of KnightLife, is looking forward to the new atmosphere. “I honestly think that the Knight Club will be a better venue because it allows KnightLIFE to actually make the area feel creepy and haunted,” Mancini said. “It will be easier to keep an eye over everything and it gives us the option to have better quality activities that are more geared towards college students.”

In the past, OcSoberFest was a popular event, drawing in between 200 and 400 students every year. KnightLife is projecting around 300 students in attendance this year. Mancini hopes the new direction and name will pique interest and draw in new and returning students.

OcSoberFest provided an alternative means of late night entertainment. It was a night filled with costumes, food, candy and prizes. Fright Knight will continue this tradition as well as KnightLife’s mission to “provide primary prevention efforts to help alleviate the problem of alcohol misuse and abuse on campus.”

Whether or not KnightLife will return to their original venue once renovations on the CAP are complete is still up in the air. “If we hear that students preferred the [CAP] over the Knight Club then we would definitely consider putting it back into the [CAP],” Mancini said.

Fright Knight is this Friday at the Knight Club between 9 p.m. and 2 a.m. Also, keep an eye out for news about KnightLife’s popular spring event, Get Rec’d, in the future.
