Paul Demjanenko, M.D., and his wife, Janet, have awarded a $30,000 gift to Gannon University to establish The Dr. Paul and Janet Demjanenko Family Endowed “Power” Scholarship and to benefit the Gannon University Annual Fund for Academic Excellence.
Demjanenko graduated from Gannon in 1984. He is currently a cardiologist with Medicor Associates Inc., an affiliate of UPMC Hamot Heart Institute in Erie.
“Years ago when I attended Gannon University, I received a scholarship and establishing this fund is my way of giving back to Gannon,” Demjanenko said.
The Dr. Paul and Janet Demjanenko family endowed “Power” Scholarship is among the almost 200 scholarships at Gannon endowed by corporations, foundations, families and individuals. Last year, Gannon University awarded nearly $914,000 in scholarships to more than 400 deserving students from a diversity of locations, backgrounds and financial circumstances.
Approximately 97 percent of students at Gannon University received some sort of scholarship award in the 2012-13 academic year. Endowed gifts to Gannon can also help fund faculty positions, professorships, chairmanships, faculty excellence and study-abroad programs at the University.
