For the last few weeks I have had what may be the most annoying song stuck in my head. Over and over the chorus of the Disney staple “It’s a Small World” has pounded its way into my skull without ceasing. Why, you might ask? Because for the first time in a long time, I am going to Disney World! (No Super Bowl ring required.)

Yes, I realize fall break was last week. Yes, I realize that I’m technically skipping class for a week to gallivant around Orlando, Florida. But I’ve been able make the necessary arrangements with my professors to complete and turn in work early so I will not lose any points. For once, I can take a break from running around to work and class to spend some quality time with my family.

When I was younger, my family took trips to Disney World fairly regularly; we always had an excuse to go because family lived in the area. Now that my sisters and I are older, I think we appreciate the magic of the parks more than before (and can get through them without any temper tantrums.)

My sisters and I have been planning things to do on this trip since my parents began talking about the possibility of going over the summer. We’ve planned everything from who’s riding which ride with whom to our Disneybound outfits. Disneybound outfits are a type of costume in which normal clothes are put together in a way to match the outfit of a Disney character. My sisters and I are dressing as the fairies from “Sleeping Beauty,” Flora, Fauna and Merryweather.

Another exciting part of this trip is the visit to Universal Studios we will take, and what I would consider their most important attraction: The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. It’s no secret that I am a big “Harry Potter” fan. Visiting the park is something that I’ve wanted to do since its opening. I cannot wait to wear my Slytherin colors and try butterbeer!

This semester has involved a lot of work for me, and I am very excited to take a break from the daily grind. Although, my trusty laptop and my school books will come with me so I can stay on top of projects during the trip. It will be great to have this opportunity to reconnect with my family and spend some quality time with my sisters.
