The lakeside amusement park edged out Sidewalk Café, last year’s winner, with 60 percent of the vote.

Once a popular picnic spot known as Hoffman’s Grove, the park was leased by the city’s main trolley company, Erie Electric Motor Co., in 1896. It was renamed Waldameer, German for “woods by the sea.”

From a simple carousel and dance hall to more than 75 fantastic attractions and a waterpark, Waldameer has come a long way. No wonder it’s Gannon’s Ultimate Fave!
