In the heart of Erie stands a building that, while beautiful on the outside, is otherwise unassuming. On certain nights, however, it comes alive with people and performances. Here are five things you should know about Erie’s own Warner Theatre:

1. The Warner Theatre was designed by architects and brothers Cornelius and George Rapp, who designed other theatres across America. It opened on April 10, 1931.

2. The Warner Theatre is home to a variety of touring performances, including concerts, comedians, ballets, operas, plays and musicals. The Erie Broadway Series brings the touring companies of Broadway musicals right here to Erie.

3. Not every performance is from out of town, though. The Warner Theatre is home to the Erie Philharmonic and the Warner Stage Company, two local performing arts groups.

4. If you’re hearing wedding bells instead of orchestras and opera singers, you can rent out the Warner Theatre for your wedding! Actually, the entire theatre is available for rental for just about any event.

5. The Warner Theatre offers student rush tickets at half price to all Warner Stage Company productions. All you have to do is bring your student ID on the day of the show.
