Hey Guys!

I’m glad it’s summertime — I am happy to be done with classes for a few months. Junior year was definitely tough, but I learned so much in the past year and have really grown as a person and a future nurse.

I had two weeks of free time before I started my nursing internship at St. Vincent hospital and my second job at Lane Bryant in the mall. I absolutely love my job at Lane Bryant. I have never worked in retail before so I was a little nervous, but I am learning quickly and enjoy going to work.

I think I am going to love my internship as well.

The first three days were spent in orientation, computer training, then skills training. I haven’t spent a lot of time on the floor yet. I am working on a medical-surgical unit that kind of gets a little bit of everything. My charge nurse showed me around, walked me through some of the charting that she does and I answered a lot of call bells and helped patients any way that I could.

I’m nervous and excited for my first full day — I know I will see all kinds of things that I wasn’t able to experience in clinical rotations, and I will get to do a lot with the two nurses who I am following.

Besides my internship and job, I am planning on making it out to Presque Isle as much as I can. A few of my friends and I went out and played Kan Jam last week and enjoyed the weather for a little bit — I’m looking forward to doing this more often.

Check back with me in a few weeks to see how my internship and summer are going!
