J-School CoolIt’s been a privilege and an honor to serve as Edge’s first editor-in-chief. I’m delighted to pass the torch to my colleague and friend, Nicole Dohoda – her creativity, passion and keen editing eye will help take this blog to the next level. You’ll still hear from me on occasion, but I’ll be devoting most of my time to my new position as editor-in-chief of The Gannon Knight, our student-produced newspaper.

I can’t believe our first year of Edge is coming to a close. It seems like yesterday when it was summer, and we were sitting around over coffee and brainstorming ideas for articles, photos and features to include on this blog. Now I’m making plans for my very last year here at Gannon. Where has the time gone!?

I’m reminded of the beginning of my senior year at my alma mater, Villa Maria Academy. Every year on the last day of school, the juniors rush up to the senior section of the auditorium and – in that moment – officially move up to the top of the school food chain.

Life is full of those symbolic moments of reaching the next plateau of maturity. Moving into one’s senior year, getting into that scholarship program, graduating, moving to a new place, whatever – there’s always a milestone to look forward to.

Time only passes by at the rate of one second per second – and that’s entirely manageable. So, my dear Edge readers, I’ll leave you with these words: never be afraid of your future. Things only get better from here.

Thanks for a great year. 🙂

-Abby
