Should I be worried about walking home after dark on Gannon’s campus?

The Office of Police and Safety offers the Gannon University Escort Service Team (G.U.E.S.T.) to enhance students’ safety and peace of mind when walking home after dark. G.U.E.S.T. will provide you with a walking escort to or from any location within a reasonable walking distance of campus. Although these student workers are not trained bodyguards and are not required to undergo any defensive training, they do carry two-way radios to ensure quick dispatch and prompt service in case an incident would arise. G.U.E.S.T. workers are present at various academic and residential buildings.

What times are the G.U.E.ST. services available?

G.U.E.S.T is designed to be available throughout the academic year beginning at 5 p.m. and during summer sessions at 6 p.m. The service continues until 1 a.m. Sunday through Thursday, and until 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, with the exception of semester and holiday breaks.

What if I’m going somewhere outside of walking distance?

Campus Police and Safety does offer a mobile escort service for trips beyond a walking range, typically within a one-mile radius of campus – like when you need picked up from a late Greyhound bus arriving at the nearby Intermodal Transportation Center. However, these mobile escort services are not meant to be a source of regular transportation to full-time employment or as a substitute for locations accessible by public transportation.
